For supreme luxury with a local flavour, look no further than an Amanpuri Six-Bedroom Garden Villa. Each one is set around a private pool shaded by coconut palms, and boasts antique-laden interiors and an outdoor living sala handcrafted from Thai teak. There’s a kitchen, but no need to worry about cooking –  the live-in private chef can cater to any appetite, and besides, there’s quartet of top-drawer restaurants at the Amanpuri resort. No stay is complete without a visit to the acclaimed Aman spa (hello, sandalwood wrap), or a healthy dose of watersports down on the private beach.

Location

  • The villa is at the Amanpuri resort, on the shores of the Andaman Sea on the west coast of Phuket, Thailand.
  • Phuket International Airport is half an hour away by car. The resort offers free transfers for all guests in high season (December to April), and for guests staying two nights or more throughout the rest of the year.
  • Most people go to Phuket to get away from civilization, but if you’re yearning for some semblance of a high street, head to Phuket town. It’s 40 minutes away by car, and has a quaint Old Town as well as all the urban basics.
  • Pansea beach may as well be called Panacea beach – the stretch of powdery white sand is bordered by twinkling emerald water, and it’s private to Amanpuri guests.
  • Golfers should swing by one of the courses in the area – Blue Canyon Country Club is the pick of a very pretty bunch. Fine dine and catch live jazz at Siam Supper Club, or feast on buttery lobster at Baan Suan Layan.
