A self-declared stressed telly producer (he's co-owner of Proudfoot), Simon and his wife Sarah Whitehead, a BBC news editor, have spent the last 20 years travelling for business and pleasure. They feared that those globetrotting days were over when their son arrived in the world three years ago, but Freddie is finally getting used to being packed off to exotic luxury hotels, so his parents can once again make sure they always have another trip booked when they get back to London. Simon loves anywhere where Spanish is spoken, while Mrs Smith favours Asia. Sweden and Oman were recent successful compromises.
