Melbourne-based Dani considers herself a ‘Fasian’ (fake Asian), as although her family lineage stems from China she can’t speak a word of Chinese beyond ‘ni hao’ (‘hello!’). However, Dani’s knowledge of Asian flavours and her canny cooking – honed watching her mother work the wok – landed her on TV as a finalist on MasterChef Australia in 2011 and again in 2012 on All Stars. She is now a ‘Felebrity’ (F-grade celebrity), dabbling in radio presenting, food writing and recipe creation (www.thewholeheartedcook.com), twittering (@danivenn) and indulging her passion for Asian street food.
