Lording over a peaceful parcel of Lucknam Park’s 500-acre estate, the Squire’s Cottage feels like a scaled-down country seat. Sporting a stone exterior and steep gabled roofs, this cosy bolthole has a quintessentially British air, and sits within a lawned garden with a patio for alfresco dining. The heart of the house is the open-plan living and dining area, which has soft sofas and a wood-burning stove at one end, and a sleek Scandi-style kitchen at the other. When it comes to meals, you can cook up a storm yourself, book a private chef or stroll over to the main hotel, home to the acclaimed Restaurant Hywel Jones. Other diversions include Lucknam’s award-winning spa, an equestrian centre, tennis courts and acre upon acre of unspoiled parkland.
