Setting

NoMad’s land

Dapper ladies and gents will love the Ned NoMad, near the city’s Garment District and due north of Madison Square Park (hence: NoMad). There’s a Magic Room co-working space for grown-ups to work wonders during the daytime, a social Cecconi’s for buzz and burrata, and the general refinement of a gentleman’s club. And right outside is one of Manhattan’s hippest ’hoods, named for its picturesque park (urban jungle this ain’t), with the stylish shops of 5th Avenue, the bright lights of Broadway and some of the best restaurants in all of NYC nearby.

If you really want to be a part of it, the all-singing, all-dancing Broadway Suite is where dreams are made.

The concierge can organise in-room treatments on request.

Packing tips

Your washbag can be relieved of its duties, since the Ned NoMad has everything covered, from lotions to loofahs, deodorants to dental kits – and Soho Skin skincare salvation.

Accessible rooms are available for disabled guests, including those with visual or hearing impairments.

Pet‐friendly

All of the rooms at the hotel are dog-friendly, provided your pooch weighs in at less than 60lbs. There’s no extra charge, but you’ll have to sign a waiver at check-in. See more pet-friendly hotels in New York.

All ages are welcome and there are rooms with two queen-size beds that are perfect for families, as well as interconnecting options. Babysitting can be arranged through the concierge.

Food and Drink

Top Table

Up on the mezzanine level of Little Ned for a bird’s-eye view of the action.

Dress Code

As with any self-respecting members’ club, ripped (however artfully) jeans, flip-flops (/thongs) and athleisurewear are outlawed.

Hotel restaurant

Unlike its London counterpart (which has an entire concourse dedicated to eight different eateries), the Ned NoMad stays faithful to its Soho House roots, with a Cecconi’s – and its trademark pizzas and pastas – taking centre-stage. There’s also Little Ned, which opens for dinner and serves decadent dishes, such as oysters Rockefeller, caviar and steak tartare. For breakfast, guests can either head to Cecconi’s or order in-room dining.

Hotel bar

This is a Soho House-owned property and you’re never far from a picante, but the main designated drinking space is Little Ned, which has been lifted straight out of the 1920s. Up on the mezzanine floor, you’ll be able to spy the Empire State Building as you sip on your saguaro.

Last orders

Little Ned is open from 5pm until late Monday to Saturday. Cecconi’s serves breakfast between 7am and 11am, lunch from noon until 4pm and dinner from 5pm to 11pm.

Room service

Meals can be delivered to your room or your preferred spot in the club 24 hours a day.

Address
The Ned NoMad
1170 Broadway
New York City

United States

If you’re not fully au fait with New York City’s contraction-loving vernacular, NoMad means ‘north of Madison Square Park’, which is precisely where you’ll find this Ned. It’s a few blocks south of the Empire State Building.

Planes

The nearest airports are JFK and LaGuardia – from JFK, the drive usually takes around 50 minutes; from LaGuardia, allow at least 35 minutes. The Ned NoMad team can arrange transfers to and from both hubs, starting from $145 each way.

Trains

The closest subway stop is 28th St Station, from where you can catch the R and W trains.

Automobiles

If you’re coming by car, you can stow it away at a nearby car park, from $65 for 24 hours, with no in or out privilege.

Worth getting out of bed for

The Ned NoMad is basically 10 minutes in any direction of somewhere good, whether you want to go up- or downtown, or west to Chelsea. Nearby neighbourhoods include the Garment District and Koreatown; local landmarks include the Flatiron Building and, just a few blocks north, the Empire State Building. Also on your doorstep are the shops of 5th Avenue; and you’ll be within a short stroll of Hudson Yards and the High Line

Local restaurants

In a modern monolith on the corner of East 24th Street and Madison Avenue, Eleven Madison Park is the world’s only vegan restaurant with a staggering three Michelin stars. For the quintessential New York breakfast, the Smith will serve you all the steak and eggs you can manage; stick around until lunch or dinner for squash schnitzels and shrimp tagliatelle. In another of NoMad’s Beaux Arts buildings, Scarpetta at the James hotel has an excellent Italian menu – and don’t miss aperitivi on the rooftop first.

Local bars

Over in Hudson Yards, for a higher vantage point than even the city’s signature skyscrapers can offer (and with added drinking potential), head up to Edge to enjoy a one-hour slot out on the 100th-floor triangular deck. More skyline views and sundowners await at Peakaboo. Or right here in NoMad (via France), Vin Sur Vingt is the only neighbourhood wine bar you’ll ever need.

As soon as our reviewers have returned from this hedonistic hotel in New York City and unpacked their smoking jackets and cigars, a full account of their buzzing break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside the Ned NoMad in Manhattan…

We can’t promise rabbits in hats, but we can guarantee a good time at the Ned NoMad in New York City, where instead of sleep, you can pretend it’s Prohibition at Little Ned, carb-load at the convivial Cecconi’s on the ground floor and channel David Copperfield in the Magic Room. The latter may technically be just a workspace, but it knows how to cast a spell. As with the other Neds in London and Doha, there are lots of cosy corners for work and play, to which staff will gladly deliver picantes and avo on toast on tap. The hotel is hewn from three buildings, one of which is a Beaux Arts beauty that was built in 1903. Little Ned may have come along a lot later, but it has all the charm of the Twenties, plus a mezzanine floor with a view of the Empire State Building. It only opened last summer but the Ned NoMad has already found its mojo.
