Setting

High in the Himalayas

Experience life on top of the world at Shakti 360° Leti – a high-end Himalayan lodge, overlooking the lofty peaks that form a natural border between north-west India and Nepal. Four cabins – crafted from stone, wood and glass – create a sanctuary with prime mountain views and offer complete seclusion from the rest of the world. You can book an individual stay here at Shakti 360° Leti, with fully customised actvities and meals. Or combine it with the one-of-a-kind Shakti Kumaon Village Walk experience: a Himalayan hiking trail, which links remote villages and rugged beauty, with rest and relaxation at this luxury base. Whichever path you choose, the dedicated staff can plan cooking classes or sun salutations, where those in search of serenity can meditate far from life’s distractions.

Anonymous review

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this mountain retreat in India and unpacked their hiking boots and pashminas, a full account of their outdoorsy break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Shakti 360° Leti in the Himalayas…

For those who’d like the sensation of a mountain trek without the discomfort of flimsy tents, icy basecamps and food from packets, Shakti 360° Leti is a mountain retreat that showcases the best of India’s peaks with dignity, culture and plenty of comforts. In lieu of pitching tents, visitors retreat to one of four cosy cabins, each with a glass wall facing the mountains. Rather than zip into sleeping bags, bed down in a pashmina-draped double bed, secure under warm duvets. This is an escape from mod-con mania, so most who visit Shakti spend time hiking, trekking or practising yoga with snow-capped views. At the end of the day, simulate campfires with a crackling fire in the cabin fireplace, and enjoy private dinner of Tibetan momos or Indian curry using the best local ingredients.
