At the hotel

Our favourite rooms

Opt for an upstairs Deluxe or Superior room with a balcony for the ideal spot to take in the quiet misty mornings. On chillier nights, the fireplace in the Superior and Premium rooms is the ideal backdrop for a great Napa cabernet.

Poolside

The heated lap pool is surrounded by a lounge area and sun chairs, with a nearby hot tub.

Spa

Due to Covid-19, the tranquil Francis & Alexander Spa is closed until the end of 2020. When open, it offers massages, facials, scrubs and couples’ treatments sourced in and inspired by the surrounding Napa Valley. The Un-Corked, for example, is an exfoliation and massage that uses ground grape seeds and wine corks.

Packing tips

Bring an appetite: Yountville is home to some of the best restaurants in the country, so you’ll eat well within an easy stroll of the hotel.

Dogs are welcome for a charge of $150 per night; they’re treated to gourmet dog treats from the legendary Bouchon Bakery, with use of food bowls and a plush bed during the stay. See more pet-friendly hotels in California Wine Country.

Top Table

Take a table in the courtyard, for starlit dinners.

Dress Code

Opt for a jumpsuit or maxi dress with light layers for chillier Napa nights.

Hotel restaurant

Chef Chef Nick Tamburo from New York's Momofuku has leaned into Cali-style cooking, implementing a daring menu with bold, often Asian-inspired, smoky flavours; wood-fired, naturally-leavened pizzas; and vegetarian dishes to get excited about. Kampachi with Meyer lemon and chrysanthemum; wood-fired cabbage with Kokuho rose rice, enoki mushroom and chilli; and duck liver with matcha show a masterful talent for fusion, and dishes get freshened up each season.

Hotel bar

Enjoy a free glass of champagne, wine or spirits from the lobby bar cart. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant's wine list stays largely local, and has a small edit of classic cocktails – although, the lime-pickle martini pairs well with Tamburo's complex flavour profiles.

Last orders

Breakfast is from 8am to 10am, lunch from 11am to 2.30pm and dinner from 5pm to 9pm (till 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays). And on Sundays brunch runs from 9am to 2.30pm.

Worth getting out of bed for

Blame wine hangovers or the valley’s restorative fresh air, but Napa is notorious for its slightly later start to the day. If coffee on the balcony and pastries from world-famous Bouchon Bakery – available as part of the breakfast buffet – don’t fully restore you, book a massage in the wine-inspired spa or nab sunloungers by the pool. When in Wine Country, designate a driver (or hire one for the day) and hit the nearby tasting rooms. Yountville is home to Jessup Cellars, Hope & Grace Wines, Priest Ranch Winery, Domaine Chandon… Please drink responsibly – and if you can't do that, hop on the wine train through Napa Valley.

Otherwise, you can take to the skies in a hot-air balloon and follow the Yountville Art Walk.

Local restaurants

Yountville is renowned for its fantastic food, thanks to Thomas Keller’s trio of destinations. Tables at The French Laundry are nearly impossible to come by, and require reservations the day tables become available, but those lucky enough to land a table can enjoy inventive seasonal fare often using produce plucked from the massive garden across the street. Bouchon Bakery is great for pastries and casual lunches. Keller’s Ad Hoc was not meant to be a permanent restaurant, but the prix-fixe family-style dinners became so popular that it’s become a firm fixture on the Napa Valley scene, especially on Mondays for fried chicken. Redd, by Richard Reddington, may have gone, but sister property Redd Wood is still going strong, wood-firing up on-point pizzas and serving a judicious edit of pastas.

In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside North Block Hotel in Napa Valley…

Napa Valley is all about good wine, good food and utter relaxation… and North Block Hotel is available to help with all three. Set in the heart of Yountville, Napa’s gourmet headquarters, the hotel is well positioned to access the best of the valley’s famed wineries. And when it comes to food, Yountville is world famous for its restaurants, including Thomas Keller’s the French Laundry and Richard Reddington's Redd. Reddington’s more casual second restaurant, Redd Wood, is part of the hotel, serving wood-fired pizzas and seasonal dishes that are ideal to pair with local wines. Breakfast pastries come from Keller’s Bouchon Bakery each morning. And as for relaxation, North Block has created a tranquil escape of lush gardens, a cooling pool and a top-tier spa that sources wine-inspired ingredients for rejuvenating scrubs and massages. At night, retreat to crisp, simply furnished rooms that are designed to turn attention to the beautiful views of the Mayacamas Mountains and vineyard-dotted valley from their private balconies and large windows.
