Our favourite rooms

The Mont Pourri suite’s private balcony has some of the best valley views in the chalet, plus there are plentiful furry throws to snuggle up under by the fireside.

Poolside

Set in an elegant wood-panelled room with sweeping views over the valley, the natural, chlorine-free pool is a serene spot for a dip after an action-packed day. Should you wish to prep your muscles for heli-skiing or mountain biking, turn on the pool’s brisk counter-current system; alternatively, let the jets massage you. There’s also an outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the snow-topped or forest-clad mountains – add a glass of champagne and you’ve found the perfect way to chill out after a day on the slopes or hiking in the hills.

Spa

The spa has both a steam room and sauna, or if you need a little more TLC, the chalet staff can arrange in-room massages, facials and more.

Top Table

All gathered together in the dining room.

Dress Code

As you wish – you’re all friends here.

Hotel restaurant

Although there’s no restaurant, your personal chef Nathanael will be on hand each evening to whip up slopeside feasts – not a bad swap. He’s particularly passionate about traditional Savoyard fare and sources lots of local ingredients, some from his own garden, to create tempting dishes like pumpkin velouté with Beaufort cheese and croutons. Take a seat on the fur-lined bench around the wooden dining table, and learn a few tricks of the trade while chatting to Nathanael as he cooks up a feast.

Hotel bar

There’s an honesty bar in the living room – the perfect spot to begin your aprés-ski. If you fancy a more technical tipple, the chalet staff are dab hands with a mixer.

Last orders

Breakfast is served 8am to 9am.

Room service

For a small fee, the friendly chalet staff will happily bring your breakfast or dinner to your room for you.

Worth getting out of bed for

Chalet Pelerin has their own skis and snowboards, ready to go in the downstairs boot room, so you can hit the slopes speedily, and in style. Once you’ve covered the 1,500 kilometres of runs in the seven nearby ski resorts, head off-piste with one of the chalet’s expert guides, Jean-Noël Gaidet and Olivier Baron, for heli-skiing in the mountain tops (available on request), terrain-skiing on glaciers and carving huge turns in the backcountry. Come spring and summer, swap your snow boots for hiking boots and explore the picturesque Tarentaise Valley. Retrace sections of the Tour de France on one of the chalet’s bikes as you cycle through fields of wildflowers, over a 6,000-foot col on top of the Alps, or along one of the bike tracks through the hills.

Local restaurants

Chez Merie is a quaint nearby restaurant with sheep-skin covered chairs, low beamed ceilings and delicious Savoyard dishes. If it’s sunny, sit out on the terrace and enjoy mountain views while dining on cod ceviche, seasonal salads and terrine d'artichaut with Beaufort cheese: on cooler days, take a table by the indoor fire where you can watch your leg of lamb or duck breast roasting in the embers. You can’t come to the Alps in winter and not do fondue; we recommend the cheesy-goodness of Le Monal fondue Savoyard which is flavoured with white wine, pepper and garlic (+33 (0)4 79 06 90 07). Eden’s Kitchen is a piste-side paradise; warm up with a bowl of hot celeriac soup with truffles followed by sticky-toffee pudding by one of the roaring outdoor fires.

Local bars

Le Saint Germain wine bar offers fine French wines paired with Savoyard cheeses and charcuterie direct from local artisans: if you’re keen to get back for dinner at the chalet, they also sell bottles to go.
