These cosy rooms are designed for the solo traveller. Each 14-15sq m room is individually designed and has a single bed and a marble ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. There’s also a writing desk, WiFi, a Bang & Olufsen TV with Sky satellite, Bang & Olufsen iPod dock and a Nespresso machine.

These Anouska Hempel-designed 22–25sq m rooms have opulent furnishings, some with gilded and carved swan bedsteads, some with dove-grey walls and intricate friezes, or script-emblazoned wallpaper. There's a queen-size bed, vintage botany prints on the walls and an ensuite bathroom with a bath tub and overhead shower. Rooms also have a Bang & Olufsen TV and free WiFi.

These lavish Anouska Hempel-designed rooms (25–35sq m) are spacious and richly decorated, with a seating area and European king-size bed. Some have French gilded antique swan beds, others have four-posters, and all are filled with antique Biedermeier furnishings. Colour schemes vary; there's a theatrical room dressed in Napoleonic gold and black with Versailles-inspired prints and a room with a La Carmona bed, saffron- and rust-coloured walls and prints of corralled Japanese Shuijo horses on the walls. Rooms have a Bang & Olufsen TV and iPod dock, desk and free WiFi.

These decadently dressed suites are very spacious (40–50sq m), with high ceilings and a separate, elegant seating area. Designed by Anouska Hempel, suites have a mixture of European king-size beds and four-posters. The One-Bedroom Suite (402) is modern, minimalist and monochrome, with contemporary furnishings, architectural etchings hanging over the bed, and a white-marble ensuite with twin sinks, a bath tub and shower. The copper and black Biedermeier Suite (209) has antique furnishings and prints in the bedroom and living room, including a hand-carved four-poster bed, and the Hastens Suite (309) is more masculine in tone, with a charcoal and grey colour scheme, antique furnishings and a bathroom decked out in 17th-century National Trust prints. The dove-grey Dorien Grey Suite (409) is so handsome you'll wonder if there's a decrepit-looking painting of it stashed in Blakes' attic.
