The 45sqm Land room Jasmim has luxe rich fabrics, furnishings and fittings – there’s a Jacuzzi bath tub – and a quirky reclaimed-wood bed, antique tchotchkes and a freestanding claw-foot bath tub in the private 68sqm garden. There’s also a fireplace and the room overlooks an olive grove.

The luxuriously outfitted 65sq m Charm Tent is set amid the hotel’s verdant grounds, by the pine forest and lavender-scented fields, to allow guests to commune with nature. Here, guests are encouraged to switch off, so there’s no WiFi, water is heated using solar power, and there’s no air-conditioning; a fan is available on request, but cooling Atlantic breezes come through the windows. Within, there’s a queen-size bed, wood-burning stove, and shower and bath tub. Guests have the dunes on their doorstep, plus a wooden deck with a hammock from which to take in the views. Two bikes are provided for exploring and room service can be delivered to your door, plus you’ll have use of a safe at reception for extra security.

The generously sized, 130sq m Townhouse is set for group or family stays and sleeps six guests in three bedrooms with ensuites (two with queen-size beds, one with twin beds). These residences are across the street from the main hotel (if you need anything just inquire at reception); each has an 8sq m outdoor pool, a small furnished garden with a patio, a spacious living room with a fireplace and a fully-fitted kitchen. These properties are large enough to sleep a family, but smaller children may find the stairs tricky.

With Atlantic views, a 40sq m private pool and space for barbecues, these 260sq m villas – located across the street from the hotel – are ideal for secluded stays with friends and family. A peaceful beach is just a 10-minute walk away (or five minutes by car or bike). Interiors are decorated in Areias’ inimitable style, with boho touches, and vintage and custom pieces. Up to six guests can sleep in three bedrooms with queen-size and twin beds, each with a private bathroom. Two extra beds can be added on request for €80 a person, each night. There’s a large sociable lounge with a fireplace and full kitchen too. And reception is just a phone call away if you need anything. A cover is available for the pool to make it safer for smalls.
Up to six people can stay in these bucolic-Bauhaus-style villas, which are ideal for families or groups. These residences are set across the street from the main hotel, but reception staff are at your beck and call if you need anything. Each has a garden area with a barbecue and a 47sq m pool to play in, a fully equipped kitchen (with a refrigerator, oven, stovetop and washing machine) and a spacious living room with a mod square foot-warming fireplace. Villa Blue number 13 (196sq m) has a smart office space set apart from the main house, and on the first floor there are three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite (the master bedroom has a bath tub, other bedrooms just have a shower). Villa Blue number 11 (214sq m) has a bedroom and bathroom with a bath tub in a private annex and two bedrooms on the first floor of the main villa, each with a private bathroom with walk-in showers. The swimming pools have covers, but no netting, so they may not be suitable for very small Smiths.
