Our favourite rooms
We love the sustainable details in all the rooms, including water glasses made of recycled green-glass bottles and untreated-cotton bathrobes; if pressed to pick a favourite, we’d have to go for the Skyline One-Bedroom Suite, which has floods of natural light, Manhattan skyline views and a hammock to lounge on as you take it all in.
Poolside
From the rooftop plunge pool, you can enjoy sweeping, Manhattan skyline views and even catch a glimpse of Lady Liberty. Family-friendly and unheated, with a shallow three-foot depth, this is a spot for soaking in rather than splashing. This is fair season swimming pool that's only open during the spring and summer. Although it's exclusively for hotel guests in the week, the pool's open to the public at weekends.
Spa
The soothing Bamford Haybarn Spa has holistic treatments using all-natural ingredients. The state-of-the-art gym has treadmills and a rowing machine; the Field House has stationary bicycles, resistance treadmills, kettlebells and yoga mats.
Packing tips
Bring your walking shoes and a sustainable canvas bag for toting around your Brooklyn finds.

Sustainability efforts
Extremely: the hotel was designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind; it is built to LEED guidelines from 22 per cent recycled materials and 32 per cent regional materials, and has a wind-powered generator, a grey-water irrigation system and a sustainable waste-management system that includes recycling and a food digester. Green cleaning products, LED lighting and Triple Clear water-purification filters are used throughout the hotel; there are living plants or trees and all-natural bath products in all rooms.
