Days 1–3: Marari

Days 4–5: Cochin
Historic Cochin is positioned between the south’s famed backwaters and the Arabian Sea. It's a place of iconic fishing nets, gently-spiced coconut curries and a sultry tropical heat.

Historic stay Brunton Boatyard has upcycled a 19th-century shipbuilding yard, primping its elegant white buildings back to their former elegance and furnishing them with antiques. It's like stepping back to the Victorian times – and the bar is ripped straight from the pages of an Agatha Christie novel – but taking modern fine dining and free WiFi with you.

Days 6–10: Kerala's backwaters
This chilled-out bit of Kerala has a prime spot on the south-west coast, at the northern tip of the backwaters with brackish lagoons overlooking the Laccadive Sea. Tap into your inner yogi, watch the thatched houseboats drift by, and eat your fill of freshly-caught fish.

Neeleshwar Hermitage, a welcoming retreat by the backwaters – built according to Ayurvedic principles – has traditional stand-alone cottages in a peaceful palm grove. Its Priya Spa has 20 body-and soul-restoring treatments on offer, and the hotel has a huge pool and direct access to the quiet sandy shoreline.

When to go
The south has two monsoon seasons, beginning in June and mid-October; these aren’t unpleasant times to visit as temperatures stay in the sultry upper-20s and the greenery is abundant. For just-right tropical temperatures, visit from November to March.
Fly into Cochin International Airport and out from Mangalore Airport. Our Smith24 team are on hand round the clock to book your flights, if needed. All inland travel is included either by rail or in a private, air-conditioned minivan with a friendly, English-speaking driver.
Add breezy linen clothing, a temple cover-up and a hand-fan to your suitcase, to keep cool in style.

How can I trust Mr & Mrs Smith's hotel choices?
A hotel or experience has to be genuinely special to make it into a Mr & Mrs Smith itinerary. The Smith team has to have ensured that any inclusions meet our high standards before they'd consider adding them to our exclusive packages.
How do I book?
Either call us on 0330 100 3180 or get in touch using one of the inquiry forms attached to the itineraries.
Do I need to pay a deposit, and when is the full amount due?
Costs vary depending on your chosen itinerary; however, all require a 50 per cent deposit on booking to secure your place. The balance must be paid 30 days before your planned arrival date.
What's the cancellation policy for itineraries?
Please refer to our terms and conditions page for our full cancellation policy.
What if I want to add on a few extra nights or arrange a special meal? Can I add on a waterskiing lesson? I've always fancied that… And can we stay in the honeymoon suite instead?
We may have to get back to you about the waterskiing, but no problem; we can create a bespoke itinerary for you, and our travel specialists can recommend some of the area's more unique activities.
