Uncover London’s contemporary-art scene with an insider tour of two top museums: the original Serpentine Gallery in Hyde Park and the Serpentine Sackler, transformed by Zaha Hadid Architects.
Your guide on this half-day cultural circuit through palace-topped Kensington Gardens is Edy Ferguson, a native New Yorker who started out art directing music videos in the Nineties, before working with a host of big-name galleries and exhibiting her own multi-disciplinary art work at museums around the world. Get acquainted with the curators and art-makers behind the two Serpentine galleries, combined with a scenic stop at Serpentine café, which overlooks Hyde Park’s centrepiece lake.
"If you want an insider's look into the art industry and its politics, join Edy's tour. She shares her in depth knowledge of being an artist herself and makes an interesting comparison between the New York City and London art scenes."
"Being able to view art with the added layers and insights an Insider like Edy offers makes a gallery visit so much more rewarding and personal. The chance to discuss works and view them with more depth was rewarding and I got fresh perspectives along the way. Really enjoyable."
Originally from New York, Edy started her career art directing music videos, which culminated in winning an MTV Best Music Video Award for Pearl Jam’s ‘Jeremy’ in 1993. Sounds fancy, right? Well, turns out, she was just getting started… As a working artist, she’s exhibited at prestigious art galleries and museums around the world and lived in cities such as Los Angeles, Vienna and now London. Even today, her work looks back to how she started by referencing music icons. But she's always got time to share her passion with those who want to explore a different side of London’s art scene.
A picture-perfect snapshot of London’s contemporary-art scene.
