Join fashion insider Barbara Chiucini as she lifts the curtain on Florence’s artisan community, introducing you to expert craftsmen, gaining access to their ateliers and delving into the city’s creative past.
Barbara will lead you through two of the city’s most beguiling neighbourhoods, Santa Croce and Sant' Ambrogio, using her creative network to demonstrate the resurgence in Florentine craftsmanship, often getting you exclusive behind-the-curtain access. You’ll visit the workshop of an expert in scagliola – an ancient form of mosaic art – encounter a master of scatole delle meraviglie or ‘boxes of wonder’, tour the factory rooms of a perfumer and come face to face with leather craftsmen in a private 15th-century palazzo.
Fashion and design expert
Barbara Chiucini was born in rustic Tuscany, but her love of fashion meant she was destined to make her mark in one of Europe’s great cities instead. To pursue her passion, she moved to Florence to study at the Polimoda fashion institute, a golden ticket that slingshotted her into a 20-year career centred around product design, during which she worked for brands like Burberry and Acne Jeans. Today, she puts her expertise into practice as a personal shopper, drawing on her vast knowledge and network of Florentine creatives to give her clients something special.
