When to go

The start of the rainy season – April, May and June – has a comfortable climate punctuated by light showers and is mild enough to meander through Can Tho’s fruit gardens. Visit in the beginning of April to take part in the tasty traditional cake festival; in late August, lanterns flicker down the waterways during the Ninh Kieu Flower Lantern Festival. Avoid sodden October and November, when storms and floods put a damper on holiday festivities.
