When to go

November until the end of April are the driest months in this tropical archipelago: sea-breeze-tickled days are sunny and hot and the Caribbean waters are clear and warm. From May to October, rainy season means occasional short-lived downpours, although May and October can be fine if you’re not wedded to all-day sunshine.

Getting there

  • Planes

Kingstown St Vincent (SVD) is the gateway airport for the Grenadines; international flights landing at Grantley Adams International on Barbados (BGI) are the most usual access point for connecting regional flights. In high season Virgin Atlantic operates flights to SVD with a stopover at BGI (no change of plane). Flights from BGI to Union Island are another option, depending on where you’re staying. From St Vincent or Union Island, you’ll need onward boat transfers.
  • Automobiles

Water transport trumps land in this archipelago with little road infrastructure.
