Luxury holidays in Sariska National park
Sariska National Park is the first reserve in the world to successfully relocate Bengal tigers – hop in the back of a safari jeep and expert rangers will point out where these regal beasts roam the forest floor. The park is home to a whole cast of carnivores – leopards and wild cats, hyenas and jackals – but cultural treasures abound too. Ancient Hindu temples, and the grand palaces belonging to the Alwar dynasty sprawl decorously across the hillsides. Legend-lovers should visit the ancient Kankwari Fort, where it’s said Mughal emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned his brother for life after an argument – never fear, visitors these days emerge after an enlightening poke around.
When to go
Visit between October and March to avoid the scorching summer heat.
