When to go

Lima’s mild, dry climate make it tempting year-round. If you’re hoping to catch some waves (or rays), the summer months from December to March are a good bet.

  Lima is served by Jorge Chávez International Airport in the port area of Callao, a handy 10-kilometre taxi ride from Lima proper.

• Automobiles

  The city’s packed streets are likely to be panic-inducing from behind the wheel – it’s much better to stick to taxis or buses when your roaming requires some wheels.
