Luxury holidays in Te Arai

Sixty miles north of Auckland, Te Arai is the North Island’s best-kept beach secret. Hidden away on the island’s east coast, Te Arai’s Tuscan hills roll into sugar-white beaches and gentle ocean waves that make the area a surfers’ paradise. You’ll find cool coastal calm with a healthy splash of family-friendly adventure: hike between Te Arai Point, Forestry and Black Swamp beaches, discovering secluded coves and sun-warmed swimming spots along the way; conquer the waves at the local surf school; or just lie back, relax and feel the sand between your toes.

When to go

Make the most of Te Arai’s beaches in the warmer months that bookend the year – summer runs from December to February. June to August is on the cooler side and might be a little soggy.
