Destinations in Mexico
Small and volcanically formed, Colima is the legendary domain of Mexico’s gods, who gaze down from the skies at the sweeping valleys, vast, open ranches, and dense subtropical jungle.
Skewered by the stunning Sierra Madre and edged by the warm waters of the Pacific, Jalisco is often said to be the most Mexican of Mexican states, and, since it gave the world tequila, mariachi, and rodeos, it’s not hard to see why.
The last great discovery of conquistador Hernán Cortés, Baja California separates the Gulf of California from the Pacific Ocean. At its very tip, sun-kissed, sea-surrounded Los Cabos is an oceanfront paradise…
Mexico City, erstwhile heart of the vast Aztec empire, once stood in the middle of a lake. These days the water is gone, replaced by a churning sea of humanity – with more than 19 million inhabitants, the city is one of the largest and most dynamic on earth.
Snow-capped mountains and smoking volcanoes surround the Valley of Puebla, which cradles this proud and peaceful city. Slower-paced than its frenetic neighbour, Mexico City, the old colonial town blends beautiful baroque architecture with a well-rooted sense of tradition.
With its well-preserved colonial architecture and vibrant food and arts culture, this Unesco World Heritage city has turned more than a few visitors into expats…

Tales from our travels
Sandwiched between the mountains and ocean, accessible by a chandelier-lit tunnel, balmy Baja Peninsula beach retreat Capella Pedregal in north-west Mexico is dedicated to pleasure. All 96 rooms in this luxe Cabo San Lucas getaway tout stellar sea views (the balcony-blessed Estrella Suite is fabulously flirty), with colourful Mexican art and plunge pools. Four swank dining venues span beach shack-chic to fine dining, including Crudo for raw fish fans. Stroll on the sand, float in the infinity pool or relax in Auriga Spa, where treatments are inspired by the lunar cycles. Yoga and candlelit massages are also yours to command.
Surrounded by jungle and sea, boutique retreat Coqui Coqui Tulum basks on Mexico’s beach-blessed, south-eastern Riviera Maya, just a hop from coast-clinging Mayan temple Tulum. Combining rusticity with sexy seclusion, the seven breezy bedrooms are soothing spaces, with tactile concrete floors, white-linen draped four-poster beds and vast, hand-moulded sunken tubs for soaking à deux. Hammocks add a local touch, as do woven lights and own-label perfumery bath products (all rooms are lovely, but the ocean-facing Master Terrace Suites have private terraces with dreamy day-beds). Watch the waves crash onto the white-sand beach; then go temple-hopping. Viva Mexico!
