As long as you avoid the rainy season from May to November, the rest of the year should serve up Pacific-paddling weather with minimal showers.
Getting there
Planes
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport is 15 kilometres from the city centre. It’s around an hour’s flight from Mexico City, or you can fly there direct from US hubs including Los Angeles and Houston. Additional seasonal flights from a host of US and Canadian cities touch down here.
Automobiles
Having a car might be handy for exploring further-flung beaches and hiking spots, but many hotels offer excursions and airport transfers. If you do hop behind the wheel, make sure you stick to daytime driving.
