When to go

The best time to visit is late November to April. Heavy monsoons arrive from May to September, bringing choppier seas that can put the beaches out of action.

Getting there

• Planes

  There are no direct flights from Europe to the Andaman Islands, so you’ll need to go via Mumbai or Chennai (both can be reached direct from London), where you can catch a connecting flight to Port Blair. Once there, hop on a seaplane or ferry to Havelock.

• Boats

  Government ferries and private catamaran services run between Port Blair and Havelock Island. The slower ferries take around four hours to make the trip, the catamarans usually do it in about two and a half.
