Luxury holidays in Le Miroir

When to go

The French ski season spans from late November to late April, depending on snowfall. The intervening months of spring and summer bring the chance to go hiking, rafting and road cycling amid lush Alpine meadows, ideally from April to August.

Getting there

  • Planes

Geneva airport has frequent international flights, taking around two hours to reach Le Miroir. Chambéry-Savoie airport and Grenoble Alpes–Isère airport are also within reach.
  • Trains

In winter, Eurostar runs direct trains from St Pancras International in London and Ashford in Kent to the French Alpine stations of Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne and Bourg-Saint-Maurice, from where you can connect by coach to the top ski resorts. Day services run on Saturdays between December to April and night trains on Fridays from January to April, with a luggage allowance that lets you bring skis or snowboards, plus two suitcases, at no extra charge.
  • Automobiles

Car hire is widely available across France, though in this mountainous area, four-wheel drives are advisable. As of July 2012, French law requires you to carry a breathalyser while driving. Also avoid using headphones and headsets, and check in advance if travelling in Low Emission Zones, which can incur a charge or ban, depending on your mode of transport.
