When to go

With average temperatures of 22°C and a climate that’s earned it the nickname ‘City of Eternal Spring’, Medellín is great to visit all year round.

Getting there

  • Planes

Fly into José María Córdova International. Or if you’re travelling within the region, land at domestic hub Olaya Herrera Airport and take a 15-minute cab into the city.
  • Trains

Reformed public transport is a large part of Medellín’s turnaround, with outdoor escalators connecting the city centre to mountainous neighbourhoods, multiple cable-car lines, and a newly developed Metro system (the only one in Colombia) – so getting around this enriching region is easier than ever.
  • Automobiles

Medellín’s gridded (and often gridlocked) city lay-out, combined with overly confident motorists, can make driving frustrating. It’s an option; however, it may be more enjoyable to beat the traffic and zip through the city by cable car.
