When to go

Winter months from November to February bring unpredictable weather. With spring, the wildflowers arrive and sea temperatures rise from May onwards. June to August are the warmest and busiest months. In September and October, the sea is warm and the island quieter.

Getting there

• Planes

  Jersey Airport (in Saint Peter) is served from regional airports across the UK, from Exeter to Glasgow, with London Gatwick its main gateway. Ferries run from Poole and Portsmouth in England, or St Malo in France.

• Automobiles

  The roads here are rural with the speed limit never exceeding 40mph. Wheels may prove useful for getting around the island, although there’s a robust network of metred public taxis and private hire vehicles to do the driving for you.
