When to go

June to August are Biarritz’s warmest months, making it the best time for surfing but also the busiest; for smaller crowds but equally prime conditions, visit in May or September.

Getting there

  • Planes

    A 10-minute drive from the beach, Biarritz’s main airport has direct flights to most European and international hubs, including London Heathrow.

  • Trains

    There are a number of TGV services running from Paris to Biarritz (about a four-hour journey), making it easy to connect from the Eurostar; and high-speed night trains also run from Paris.

  • Automobiles

    If you’re planning on exploring further afield, then a set of wheels will be a great addition. Those who would rather stick to the city will manage without, thanks to its small size and readily available taxis.
