When to go

The best time to visit is from late November to April, when the weather tends to be warm and dry. If you’re hoping for cheaper rates and fewer crowds, try May or June, when the rainy season is starting but not in full swing.

Getting there

• Planes

  The best place to touch down is Philip SW Goldson International Airport in Belize City. Fly directly from Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, Chicago O’Hare and Los Angeles International. From there, it’s a 15-minute flight to San Pedro Airport on Ambergris Caye.

• Boats

  Water taxis run between Belize City and San Pedro in Ambergris Caye. The journey takes around 90 minutes.

• Automobiles

  Once you’re on the island, you’ll quickly notice that golf carts are the most popular way to get around. You can hire one from any number of rental firms.
