When to go

For snow days visit from December to March – keep in mind roads may not be as easy to navigate. For a spot of sun and happy wanderings visit from April to October.

Getting there

• Planes

  From the French side, fly into Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, which is around a two-and-a-half-hour drive from the valley; flights arrive here from major cities around Europe. From the Spanish side, arrive at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which is around three hours away by car.

• Trains

  If you’re travelling around Europe by train or fancy a more scenic route, TER Occitanie runs trains into Andorra direct from Toulouse Matabiau Station to Gare d'Andorre-L'Hospitalet, just a 35-minute drive from the valley, and SNCF’s Intercités de Nuit service runs an overnight service here from Paris.

• Automobiles

  A car will come in very handy here, unless you have the constitution of a mountain goat. And, your driving efforts will be rewarded with views of snowy glades and Alpine pastures. From Barcelona, follow the C-16 route north, then the N-20 route in southern France and the CG-2 route in Andorra. From Toulouse, follow the A66, A61 and N20 routes, then change to the CG-2 in Andorra.
