Luxury holidays in Encamp

When to go

Like its Pyrenean peers, Encamp is a tale of two seasons, drawing wintersport enthusiasts from December to March and hikers and cyclists between May and September. Efficient snow-making in the Grandvalira ski area has you covered, should the ’flakes prove flakey in winter. And in summer, the region’s high altitude takes the edge off summer heat, ensuring temperatures remain walker-friendly. Higher chances of rain and seasonal closures make the autumn months less appealing.

Getting there

  • Planes

For Encamp, a Spanish approach is your most direct route into the Pyrenees, via Barcelona or Girona airports, both around three hours from Encamp by road. The drive from Perpignan Airport on the French side takes a similar time but is more mountainous.
  • Automobiles

The fact that Andorra relies on French and Spanish traffic for its livelihood is reflected in the quality of the roads here, which are well maintained and signposted. Inevitably as you climb towards Encamp, there are twists and turns to navigate.
