Bedrooms
All have air conditioning and are decorated in an eclectic mix of modern and classic style while the bathrooms are unashamedly modern.
Bedroom 1: This ensuite double-aspect master bedroom is painted white with a splash of turquoise and blue, having a chest of drawers and wardrobe. At the foot of the bed, 1.6mx2m French doors open onto a private balcony.
Bedroom 2: This ensuite double is white with a flash of pink, with sheer window fabrics to match. Furniture is a chest of drawers, wardrobe and 1.6mx2m bed.
Bedroom 3: This ensuite double has accents of emerald. Furniture is a chest of drawers, wardrobe and 1.6x2m bed.
Bedroom 4: This double bedroom shares its bathroom with bedroom 5, and has a lemon-coloured injection. Furniture is a chest of drawers, wardrobe and 1.6mx2m bed.
Bedroom 5: This single bedroom shares its bathroom with bedroom 4 and has French doors onto the garden. The single bed does pull out into a double but traditionally this is the room used by a nanny. -
Kitchen
It may have a rustic elegance, but be assured this cucina is pure 21st century: dishwasher, microwave and Illy coffee machine. -
Living room
This forms part of an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, having a set of French doors opening onto the gardens and a wonderful fireplace. There is also a widescreen satellite TV, DVD and PlayStation facilities. -
Dining room
Directly connected to the living area, this room has a terracotta table for 10 and two sets of French doors onto the garden. It’s separated from the kitchen by the cooking island. -
Poolside
A 17.5mx5m infinity pool overlooks sprawling wheat and corn fields owned by Villa Fontelunga. -
Gardens
There is a gazebo outside with a dining table for 10 people.

In the know
Eating and drinking
There is a welcome hamper of pasta, pasta sauce, biscuits, coffee, tea, milk, some jams, orange juice, fresh bread, two bottles of wine and water; in the larder there are essentials such as sugar, balsamic vinegar, flour, pepper and their home made olive oil and Tuscan salt. The freezer is stashed with croissants, which just need 20 minutes in the oven to achieve pastry perfection.
Housekeeping
The bedroom and bathroom are cleaned daily; the rest of the property and the kitchen can be given a tidy up for a small extra charge.
Entertainment
There is a CD player and iPod dock. There is satellite TV and DVDs are available on request.
Provided
Guests can use the villa’s mountain bikes for excursions. They can also organise massage, yoga, personal guides, hot-air balloon trips, classic car rentals, horse riding and more.
Packing tips
Maybe leave the laptop at home – this is somewhere to switch off. There isn’t any automatic WiFi but if you really need an internet connection they can get you a plug-in connection for €60/week.
