With its own heated infinity pool, plenty of high-spec audiovisual, sophisticated bathrooms, Treverra Farm Cottage is no shabby-chic worker’s cottage. But it does have real-life appeal – we are in Cornwall, after all – with supplies of books and kids’ stuff, a kitchen that’s fun to cook in, and an art collection that combines creativity and chic to interiors-mag-worthy effect. You’d be hard pressed to spot anything from the high street here: instead, collectible vellum books, framed botanical treasures and antique mirrors and apothecary glassware are arranged among the English and Scandinavian antiques. The light that floods into this whitewashed 1700s cottage is fabulous, and the views absolutely classic.

• Grounds Treverra is set in 14 acres of farmland, with landscaped gardens, tennis court and its own outdoor infinity pool with Jacuzzi and pool house. There’s a wetroom for wetsuit and board storage. The nearby farmhouse is sometimes occupied by the owner.
• Minimum hire Usually let by the week, Thursday to Thursday, but weekend breaks are negotiable in low season.

• Booking process Just email or call and they'll send you a booking form. Smith deposit taken when you book. 25 per cent deposit, balance payable eight weeks before stay, £250 damage deposit. Property style Traditional Cornish cottage, beautifully restored and furnished with attractive art, antiques and textiles.
• Also No pets, no smoking. The outdoor pool is closed from the beginning of November until March. The main house next door is available for hire in select weeks from July, and comes with a gym, sauna, steam room and – in July and August – a private chef.

• Bedrooms

  All have sea views. Bedroom one: twin or superking double with ensuite shower. Bedroom two: king double with ensuite bath and shower. Bedroom three superking double with ensuite bathroom with freestanding bathtub. Downstairs twin children’s bedroom/TV snug top-and-tail twin bed, and adjacent shower room. All the rooms are individually decorated, with English and Scandinavian antiques, and all have superb comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton bedlinen.

• Kitchen

  The kitchen at Treverra is open plan with the country-cottage-style dining area, and comes equipped with everything you can imagine for chic self-catering; there’s a Rayburn, microwave, double butler’s sink, Smeg fridge, Miele dishwasher and plenty of smaller hardware, so you can bake a cake if you feel like it. French windows open onto the patio with barbecue and garden furniture. There’s a separate utility room. The owners grow their own vegetables in the garden, which guests can use.

• Living room

  A lovely, calm space, with a definite Scandinavian feel, thanks to whitewashed walls (walls are white throughout), wooden floors and ticking rug. There’s a wood-burning stove, TV with Sky and DVD, sea views and door to the garden. There are books both readable and decorative, and a separate study area next door, as well as the TV snug with diversions for children of all ages.

• Dining room

  Open-plan with the kitchen, stone-flagged with plenty of space around the oval farmhouse table.

• Poolside

  Newly installed 15-metre infinity pool perched above and behind the house, with Jacuzzi, sunloungers and pool house.

• Gardens

  Big, unenclosed landscaped gardens, directly accessed from the kitchen (via patio) and living room. Tennis court.

• Private parking

  Space for two to three cars.
