Intro
The whole of Paris lies at your feet, from the Louvre to the fleamarkets, from electro clubs in Belleville to shopping on Avenue Montaigne, from drinking in old-school zincs to choosing among dozens of Michelin-starred restaurants.
Best picnic spot
The Jardins du Palais-Royal and the Jardins des Tuileries.
Best walks
Up and down the banks of Canal St-Martin.
Shopping
Montorgueil is home to the remainder of a once-major fresh-produce market; on Rue Montorgueil you can shop at fresh fruit and seafood stalls; cheese and wine shops; chocolate ateliers and the famous Stohrer, one of Paris's top patisseries. The shops are, wonderfully, open on Sundays, too.
Activities
There's this place called the Louvre… Also we love the Jeu de Paume, in the Jardin des Tuileries, for photography and video art. And the Palais de Tokyo opens late for contemporary art lovers.
Smith Tip
While you're there, make sure you devote a whole day to shopping on the Rue Montorgueil (see below), and preparing a feast, with music on, to serve at home, in-Loft.
