Simon Gaul
Gallivanting gentleman
Born nomadic and brought up sailing the Mediterranean, Simon finally settled in sunny Monaco 17 years ago. Owner of The Travel Bookshop in Notting Hill, he has written travel guides, and freelances for publications ranging from The Daily Telegraph to Brides. He has driven from London to Peking, made it through South, Central and North America, and sailed most oceans, stopping in charming fleapits and charmless five-starrers from Micronesia to the Taklimakan Desert, so he has a gimlet eye for a good hotel.
