Poorna Shetty
Fussy freelancer
After a teacher praised seven-year-old Poorna's first story – about an ill-fated trip to Mangalore, India ('It smells') – she abandoned ambitions of being an astronaut for dreams of becoming a writer. Since then, as part of stints working as editor of Asiana and travel editor at thelondonpaper and in her current freelance role, Poorna has travelled the world. Woe betide the boyfriend who attempts to take her on a below-par minibreak; when it comes to hotels, she's about as Little Lord Fauntleroy as they come.
