The Guestbook

I can highly recommend going a grabbing a cocktail and a bite to eat at 'Top of the Hub'. This is at the top of the Prudential Tower on Boylston. The best views of the city are from this 52nd Floor bar/restaurant.

Would also recommend a dinner out at one of the many Italian restaurants in the North End. We dined at Lucca on Hanover St, which was recommended to us and was fabulous.

When in Boston, eat at Atlantic Fish (www.atlanticfishco.com) on Boylston Street. We were staying at XV Beacon – one of the finest hotels we have ever stayed in – and they recommended dinner at Atlantic Fish. It is a lively, buzzing restaurant where you eat at a table (reservations necessary for dinner) or take pot luck and eat at the bar (the same menu). The food was amazing: an absolutely superb selection of fresh fish. We then returned there on another day for a late lunch, which was a much quieter experience but with the same great food and service. Not cheap but excellent value for money.

The concierge (Michael) recommended Myers and Changs – a fantastic tip-off for good-value Asian food. Make sure you get a seat at the kitchen bar where you can watch the chefs work their magic first hand. We also discovered a cafe in Charles Street called Panificio. We went there for lunch and had a superb meal, just don't do as we did and order pizza, soup and the meatball sub – one of the above will more than suffice!

We had a one of a kind experience dining at Craigie on Main in Cambridge. He has a brilliant menu and superb service. It's the kind of restaurant worth making a trip for.

The hotel is so well positioned that almost everything is within striking distance – walking around is the best way to see most of Boston. A trip across Boston Common and down Newbury Street is a must, especially for those seeking retail therapy. Faneuil Market offers some alternative therapy and some great history, and is the best place to sit and have coffee. Around the corner from Faneuil is the Union Oyster Bar – an obvious tourist destination but really worth dropping in to for oysters and ale. Speaking of food, XV Beacon's restaurant is excellent and if you go, you must try their Boston Bread.

The concierge at the hotel recommended a restaurant called Mare in the North End, a ten-minute walk from the hotel. It was fantastic. By far the best meal we had in Boston.
