The Guestbook
The owners of this hotel, Francis and Dawn Boys-Stones, go out of their way to arrange trips and give recommendations. Three were outstanding: the first, a day's trekking on arab-cross stallions, with much fast riding across the desert sands into the foothills of the Atlas mountains. Lunch is at a remote village – sitting cross-legged on the kelim-covered floor of a one-room mud hut with a tray of sweet mint tea, hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes with cucumber and hot flat bread with cumin and oil. A feast. Second, being driven by the villa's driver an hour into the mountains to a fabulously beautiful lake. We walked for several miles and finished with lunch on the terrace under olive trees at a restaurant with a sailing boat for a bar. And on the final night, after a magical day in the souks, they booked us into a wonderful restaurant – rose water sprinkled on your hands when you arrive – which was packed with locals: Le Foundouk. After the meal, the doorman leads you through the alleys to your waiting driver. You won't want to come home.

Wow! What an amazing place. Such generously spacious villas and interiors designed to match. Loved the concept of having our own kitchen and bar so we could help ourselves anytime plus the food was lovely – mostly really nice local dishes; to be served on our villa terrace for lunch or dinner if we wanted made the holiday really romantic, relaxed and personal to us rather than having to go to a restuarant.
The owners Francis and Dawn were really friendly and helpful and booked us into a fantastic terrace-top restaurant called Le Foundouk in the Marrakech souks which we'd never have found otherwise, and everyday they checked on us and made sure they organised taxis/lunch/dinner for us if we needed it. Overall, the experience was fantastic and we loved the pool and tennis courts – it's most certainly a great place to go and relax and it's not too far out of Marrakech.

I have no recommendations for wonders near to Villas Fawakay because we didn't leave! Why would we? The food was outstanding, the couple who run it are great, the suite was gorgeous and massive (downstairs in villa Laklak), there was an honesty bar by the pool AND a pregnant donkey called Doris!
