The Guestbook

From the outside, the hotel is unassuming and shuns the corporate grandeur of the Caledonian Hotel next door. Once checked in, with trusty complimentary cocktail vouchers in hand, we were personally shown to our Standard rooms. The dimly lit corridors open up to wide spacious offshoots where the rooms are situated. The room description does the room injustice – it is a bit of a gadget-lover's paradise. With an hour to burn, I pushed all the buttons in the bathroom to find my perfect setting on the Jacuzzi bath. The wallmounted flatscreen TV is hooked up to ceiling speakers in both the living room and bathroom, all adjustable from various control panels on various walls and within arm's reach of the bed.  Later, we headed to the hotel bar with our vouchers. Our mixologist kindly whipped us up several very good whiskey sours that weren't on the menu. Back in the bar/breakfast room the next morning, I ordered probably the best eggs benedict I've ever had – the silence that descended upon the table suggested my colleagues felt the same. The Rutland Hotel served us equally as well for a short business trip with some fun tacked on as I suspect it would if I were to visit with Mrs Smith. Great West End location, chatty and easygoing staff, all the amenities you could need in your room – even some GHD straighteners. In the past we have stayed in the Caledonian Hotel and The Balmoral at the other end of Princes Street. The Rutland Hotel is a breath of fresh air. I am already looking forward to my next stay here.

What a fabulous hotel. I loved the lighting that made the bed look as though it was floating. No need to stray anywhere else for food. I met a friend for lunch and we had a delicious meal full of interesting flavours accompanied by perfect service and our complementary cocktails as a thank you for booking through Mr & Mrs Smith. What more could a girl want.
