The Guestbook
Had an overnight stay here midweek on a rainy day, but the welcome could not have been more friendly and sunny. Had a lovely stay - a great room with friendly, helpful staff, at great value - couldn't ask for more. Thank you.

Pretty hotel in an excellent location near Earls Court on Exhibition Road. Easy for transport and walking, which we did a lot of as most of the tube lines were down all weekend. Luckily the only lines not affected were the District and Piccadilly, perfect for Earls Court. Only minor niggle was no tea- and coffee-making facilities in the room.

This place is a haven of calm in the centre of London. From the moment I arrived, the staff were extremely polite and attentive which made me feel very special. The hotel itself is very stylish and comfortable, with the rooms very well appointed and no noise to be heard from the main road outside.

The Rockwell is situated between two underground stations, depending upon your direction of travel: Gloucester Road and Earls Court. The Rockwell is a small hotel, about the same size as most West End hotels, but nicer in detail and service.

Continuing my juants to London for cultural stimulus, this time a visit to the Cadogen Hall, I checked in to the Rockwell. For those of you who know the Earl's Court area, there is a plethora of hotels with Georgian pillared fronts that lok inviting from the outside and reception area but very quickly take on the 'mutton dressed as lamb' mantle once you open the bedroom doors. Not so the Rockwell, its public areas are elegant and airy and the bedrooms large and well appointed, if a little reflective of major chain hotels. For Blue Disc collectors, Benjamin Britten lived for a while two doors down with Alfred Hitchcock a resident a block or so away. If you walk behind the hotel you discover a little hidden-away residential area of lovely houses, small streets and a great number of ethnic restaurants beofre you then rock up on Earl's Court Road and all its bustle. Top tip: Earl's Court tube is by far the nearest to the Rockwell.

Perfectly placed in London, The Rockwell is a home from home. Attentive, welcoming staff and a reasonable price for the capital. If travelling alone, make sure that you go for a superior single. The ordinary singles, whilst serviceable, don't leave much room for unpacking the obligatory cosmetics!

My husband Brian and I stayed in the Mezzanine Suite, which was gorgeous. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The hotel itself was pristine, decor beautiful and the garden very inviting. We had a meal in the restaurant which was first class - our compliments to the chef. Everything about the hotel was perfect and I recommend a visit - it is a perfect location. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.
