Extremely comfortable and easy to relax in. Great fusion of old and modern. Some of the modern aspects are fascinating: an electronic iPad thing for the wine list, allowing you to sort in lots of ways – grape, origin, price and alphabetically allows you to instantly see if there are any Alaskan wines. Also, the layout of our room is intriguing, it was a first for us to have a bath open plan in the centre of the room. This was a very enjoyable experience as you can soak for ages watching the TV but have the TV control to hand. I didn't and got stuck watching ITV on a Saturday night, which was another first for me. Restaurant was excellent value for money in every way.

We had a fantastic stay at the Montpellier Chapter in October 2011. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. If you can afford a larger room it would definitely be recommended. The National Trust properties Snowshill Manor and Chedworth Roman Villa, are really worth the trip out into the Cotswolds. Also worthwhile are The Village Pub in Barnsley, for a pint in front of the roaring fire, and a trip to Daylesford Organic Farm Shop to stock up on beautifully-packaged food and drink.

A modern hotel set in regency England at the very heart of glorious Cheltenham and the Cotswolds. The hotel was beautifully appointed with attentive staff and situated in an ideal place for exploring the wondeful Cotswolds. Great shopping, English pubs, and very close to some fine dining. Highly recommended.

If you want a very reasonably priced stay at a cool contemporary hotel, with a room full of gadgets in the heart of Cheltenham, this is the hotel for you. The atmosphere in the bar and library in the evening was relaxed and warm, and the hotel restaurant is buzzy and hip. Within walking distance of the bohemian Montpellier district and a short walk from the city centre. If you fancy a weekend in Cheltenham then I cannot recommend The Montpellier Chapter strongly enough, and look forward to a return visit in the future.
