The Guestbook

If you are travelling with kids and if they like animals, you must visit St James Park with a pack of nuts. Squirrels in the park are amazing. They are not afraid of humans at all. They can come up and eat nuts from your hands and follow you for more nuts. Kids can have a lot of fun with them.

Returned to an old favorite and it didn't disappoint. How can you go wrong with an amazing sushi restaurant (surprisingly busy for a Sunday night – make sure you get a reservation) and helpful concierge? Great rooms too: super-comfy bed and views over Hyde Park. Try and get a room on the upper floors – fab.

The concierges at the hotel are amazing. Avoid Planet Hollywood, the queues are hideous. Brilliant Italian -- Alloro in Dover Street.

During our stay at The Metropolitan, my husband and I had a fantastic meal at La Petite Maison at 53-54 Brook's Mews. Both the food and service and wine list were amazing. The food is gourmet Mediterranean style tapas, ordered for sharing with diners on your table. It comes with a hefty Mayfair price tag but the quality and the buzz of the packed restaurant were definitely worthwhile.

Great stay - lovely to be in the heart of London and not feel it. Big fan of the proper pubs in Shepherds Market and the restaurants round there, you really can't go wrong!

It's a great hotel, two minutes walk from Shepherd Market (one of London's hidden gems!)... We went to Locanda Locatelli up in Mayfair which was amazing and would rate as one of the best meals that i've even eaten! If you've booked a room with a view of the park, ask for one on the upper floors as the view is exceptional...

The Metropolitan offers the unique combination of sheer luxury and light in the heart of the city. Perfect for post-business recreation. A design-led romantic retreat from all, with the fabulous Met Bar only open to guests and members, thus a true haven to escape to with that secret special someone.

Well worth getting room service: nothing was too much trouble, blue cheese sauce and chips at 1am, mojitos before dinner, olives, Nobu bento boxes – brilliant!!
Nobu was fantastic – choose the Chef's Choice menu. It was superb, especially since it was my first time eating there. Great for people spotting, (Robert Downey Jr was on the table next to us!). We had the most amazing massages at the Como Shambala Spa; I've forgotten the name of our therapist but I wanted to take her home! You HAVE to make the two-minute walk to The Athenaeum, where we had Laduree Afternoon Tea – just perfect, a lovely ending to our girlie trip.

We discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant called Back to Basics in Foley Street. They do fantastic fish – all completely fresh and delicious. You pick what you want from a retro chalkboard written in large letters across one wall. A word of warning though, don't get there too late because once a particluar dish is sold its crossed off the board and thats it – it's gone! A meal starts with bread and a selection of home-made butters such as anchovy and roasted red pepper. Starters include a huge bowl of fisherman's soup with generous portions of clams and king prawns. Follow this with monkfish and prawn skewers or half a lobster. There is a good wine list, well priced. Be prepared to get messy with the food, but don't worry – the charming waitress will provide you with a linen bib to protect your clothes. A relaxed service and reasonably priced. We were amazed that we had not heard about this place before – it was brilliant and we had a fantastic night.

What an awesome location for a hotel, splurge and get a room overlooking the park for a memorable sunset. Nobu rocks and if you want a quick drink after Shepherd's Market just around the corner. Become a Smith member and take advantage of the late check-out and wander around the park. PS I live in Central London and it was worth it.

Sofra Turkish restaurant in Shepherd Market, Mayfair about a five minute walk away from The Metropolitan is a must. Small, friendly, excellent service and the food is amazing.
