The Guestbook

A fantastic family hotel; from the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel at home, and our 17 month old daughter was encouraged to play with everything. Facilities were perfect for enjoying as a family, with the option to escape as adults due to the creche babysitting and watching services. The restaurants were well organised and the food top drawer, from the afternoon teas to the formal dinners. Having a fully laid table with two adult places alongside a full plastic set for the little one, was great and made dining even more relaxing. The spa and creche facilities were also deserving of a top rating and the staff throughout the hotel were incredibly friendly and playful with the little one, and professional in their service. We left after four fabulously enjoyable and relaxing days with two queries; how was it just a 3 star and when will we be back?

First stay in a 'family hotel'. It had good points and bad points – wouldn't have gone if it hadn't been one-night free due to the expense. Think that the price charged is too much. Good 'Bear's Den' crèche and terrific pool. Nice gardens and playground. Kids toys inside are kept under the staircase perfect for banging little heads against – they need to be moved. Brilliant free listening service at night. Food was sometimes excellent, good and barely OK. The venison was superb, but don't ruin a gorgeous duck dish with vanilla sauce. Haddock for breakfast would have been lovely if the poached egg wasn't completely solid, and the kids' eggy bread wasn't nice. The kids' high tea was a buffet on the first night which was ideal, but on the second night it was cooked to order and, for a five-year old and a two-year old, the wait was just too long. A buffet is the much better option for younger kids. A trip to the West Midlands safari park was excellent, the staff there are really friendly, knowledgeable and happy in their jobs – would really recommend the place and it's only 20 minutes away (it's best to be there when the gates open as I gather queues can easily form). The hotel's decor and carpets do need some attention but every single member of staff was very nice and efficient. Would we go again – maybe.

Great for kids (would certainly recommend as very friendly with lots of things to keep them happy), but if you don't have kids avoid! There is no sound-proofing!

This is a fantastic hotel for families with small children. You can arrive early to use the facilities and use them after you have checked out. The Bear's Den was great for little ones – you can choose to either stay and play with them, or leave them in the hands of the capable carers for up to two hours at a time. There were toys and books under the stairs to occupy the kids, which made coffees in the lounge all the more enjoyable! And the adventure playground was also not to be missed!

The staff are lovely and helpful. It was a great hotel and we really enjoyed our stay, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
