We found a lovely restaurant in Volendam called Van Den Hogan. Great service, fantastic food and prices in the middle range but worth it. Take the ferry to Marken from here and visit the little town set up back in history, €8 return per adult. The Grand Hotel in EDAM was also very reasonable and with fantastic food and selection. Also, just a note that 30 April is Queen's Day with all partying in the streets and wearing orange for William of Orange family, and also 5 May is Liberation Day for Holland – Canadians are specially welcome and honoured on this day. During this time, Holland is also on school break and most people are away, so it's not so busy.
