The Guestbook

The second hotel on our walking and eating trip. It was a real treat to be upgraded to a suite. I was too late to book into the spa but would next time. It's right on the coast so the walking was amazing. We thought that the food at this hotel was very good. As it was so near, we went to Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.

A very superior hotel, the suite was exceptionally fine. The staff were very friendly and the service was exemplary. The restaurant was very stylish and the evening meal OK. Would certainly go again.

We had the pleasure of visiting Paul Ainsworth At Number Six in Padstow. The food is understated and delightfully bursting with flavour, the service is exceptional, and the prices more than reasonable. For those that follow the Great British Menu, his winning Taste of the Fairground dessert is on the menu. We would recommend dining there before the Michelin guide brings the crowds and the prices rise accordingly.

Just a quick overnight stay on business rather than a holiday. The coastline here is just magnificent, the beaches great for kids of all ages. We caught the tail end of Hurricane Katja and the sea was just fantastic. A must for anyone that loves coastal scenery and a fun time on the beach. A great place to stay if you're with a group or large family because adjoining rooms share a lobby area which acts as a common 'front door'. Have a look at the suites or apartments for a longer stay. They're bigger and better value. The cosy rooms are a little small but fine for a couple of days. However if you're staying longer then you'll find there are no seats in the room and it will feel cramped unless you're happy spending all your sit down and chat time in the communal areas or are out and about, of course. At only 3 years old, the hotel is in great shape and there is none of the gradual decline in the exterior decoration that you often get in seaside hotels. Staff are friendly. We didn't have a chance to use the spa so can't comment on it. However, Mrs Smith loved the Cowshed goodies.

This hotel is brilliant. The staff and service are friendly, helpful and always delivered with a smile. I would highly recommend for those pregnant ladies the cowshed spa treatments. Some well needed RR was topped off by a wonderful massage, again with friendly staff, and care and attention for your specialist requirements. The restaurant, especially the breakfast, was superb. Highly recommend booking here if you're planning to visit North Cornwall. I know I will be returning.

Stein's deli, South Quay, Padstow offers a great selection of local foods, perfect for putting together a picnic or for self catering when staying in a suite or apartment. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable, with lots of yummy bits and pieces to try -- would definitely go back again.

We had a fabulous three days. The hotel was excellent and the service very good. We had a super lunch at Jamie Olivers's "Restaurant 15" at Watergate Bay, but you do need to book in advance. The views are magnificent and the cusine very adventurous. Another must is Malcolme Barnecutt's bakery in Wadebridge. The freshly made pasties are the best in Cornwall. (I have this on good authority from my husband - a Cornishman).

Staying at the St Moritz? One of the staff members can drive you to the local water taxi to get to Padstow. We took the captain's torch and mobile number, and he picked us up well after midnight from the beach in the darkness. Amusing and romantic. We visited Rick Stein's original Seafood Restaurant. Prebook and ask for a corner table for a bit more privacy. Thoroughly recommend the tasting menu, with an extra batch of oysters if you're in the mood.

We spent a lovely weekend at St Moritz. We enjoyed a "Couples" Cowshed massage on arrival, which instantly made us feel relaxed after the long drive from London. The sea views from the hotel are breathtaking and the local coastal walks and beaches are stunning. Although the restaurant in the hotel is very good, for an extra special long lunch we ventured to Fifteen at Watergate Bay. The food was amazing but the views from the restaurant was simply stunning.

Where do I begin? The whole experience at St Moritz was just divine! We loved the 'Miami-like' design of the hotel-fresh and funky-and the fact that we got upgraded to the best suite with gorgeous sea views was a huge bonus!

For an easy lunch, the 'Blue Tomato Cafe' in Rock is a lovely place to chill out and read a book or just to sit with a hot chocolate and take in the views of Padstow across the water. Rick Stein's fish restaurant in Padstow is great but I highly recommend 'Fifteen', one of Jamie Oliver's restaurants although all profit goes to charity. Yummy yummy food and fantastic views looking far out to the sea. If there's just two of you ask for one of the quiet, romantic tables alongside the huge glass wall-it'll feel like you're flying out to sea!

I also highly recommend the Cow Shed spa. The full body massage really hit the spot!

Enjoy!

We hit the St Moritz Hotel for a long winter's weekend and loved every minute of it. Sitting atop a cliff with a beach in walking distance was perfect, particularly as our room had great views and the restaurant and spa were so good. For us, heading further afield was all about Padstow. What a beautiful little town, if a tad touristy. The Seafood Restaurant really is worth the hype and you can catch a ferry to it from the hotel's side of the bay (although it is around 15-20 minutes' walk away). If you do go to Padstow, you must have Rick Stein's fish and chips from his Fish & Chip Café. But get there early because the queues are quite epic!

What a find – a gorgeous contemporary hotel in a traditional seaside town. The restaurant is great and treatments at the Cowshed spa were luxurious! The hotel staff arranged a driver to take us to nearby Padstow where Rick Stein's restaurant at 10 Middle Street (+44 (0)1841 532 700) was fabulous. His pub in St Merryn is also worth a visit - try the Cornish Rattler!
