Such a wonderful stay, the wildlife around the grounds was amazing; within 15 minutes of arriving we had seen wild turkeys, a hummingbird and a deer with her fawn. If you like wildlife, there is a great reserve north of Santa Cruz on Highway 1 Ano Nuevo. We stopped in on our drive down from San Francisco on our way to the Post Ranch Inn. Here you can see one of only two places on the coast where elephant seals turn up for most of the year. You can walk down to the edge of the beach about 15 miles from the car park and get a very close view of these amazing creatures, take your camera.
