This hotel was excellent. It is expensive, but so is Santorini in general. Of particular note were the reception staff, who assisted in any way they could, particularly during the national strikes. Highly recommended.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Perivolas. The view took our breath away every time we looked out over the Caldera. Everything about it was perfect. We followed many of the Mr & Mrs Smith tips of what's worth getting out of bed for, and were not disappointed. We would suggest visiting the town of Oia, which is a short walk away in the evening, when most of the large parties of tourists have left and the temperatures are cooler. The shops and restaurants are open late and it’s easier to take a leisurely stroll. Atlantis books in Oia is a gem of a bookshop, like an Aladdin’s cave, literally with books piled right up to the ceiling. Full of classics you want to come away with a suitcase full. Strongly recommend a visit. We would also highly recommend the Santorini Wine Tour, run by expert sommelier Vaios Panagiotoulas, his knowledge and enthusiasm for his country’s wines was thoroughly enjoyable. He also offered, at an extra cost, a cooking lesson in a cobbled square at a local taverna in the picturesque village of Megalochori. Learning about and consuming some local Santorini dishes with lots of chilled wine. Bliss.
