The Guestbook
This is such a beautifully quirky hotel and location is amazing. The hotel is probably number one in Santa Monica and Santa Monica is the number one part of LA. (Well, in my opinion anyway.) Definitely recommend staying here near the beach and the great shops and restaurants, away from ugly Downtown and the touristy bits of Hollywood.

Santa Monica is a fantastic part of LA - take a long walk along the beach to Venice for the hippy markets (or hire a bike on the beach front and cycle there) or stroll up Montana Avenue, away from the beach and you'll find a fantastic little bar/gastro called Father's Office. From the outside you wouldn't bother, it looks like just another US bar but once inside you'll be captured by the relaxed menu and the range of micro-beers and spirits on offer. There's no table reservation so you just have to grab one when it becomes free.
