Namale Resort & Spa
Getting there
Namale hugs the south coast of Fiji's second largest island, Vanua Levu, north-east of main island Viti Levu. It's just a hop from the island's main town, Savusavu.
- Planes Fly into Nadi International Airport (www.airportsfiji.com), on main island Viti Levu, which handles flights from international carriers including Qantas, Air New Zealand, Pacific Blue, United Airlines and Korean Air, as well as Fijian carrier Air Pacific. From there it's just a one-hour flight north-east with domestic carriers Island Hoppers (www.helicopters.com.fj, which offers charter flights and 'copter rides) or the cheaper, but less reliable Pacific Sun (www.airpacific.com) to Savusavu Airport on Vanua Levu island, just a 10-minute drive from Namale. You can also fly into Labasa Airport on Vanua Levu's north coast, although the drive to the hotel is longer and far less convenient.
- Trains There are no trains services in Fiji, so you'll have to fly, or travel by car and boat.
- Automobiles Car transfers from Savusavu Airport to Namale Resort & Spa are included in hotel rates; it's about a 10-minute drive. The drive from northern airport Labasa, on Vanua Levu, takes about two hours and is more of a winding, bumpy ride. Parking at the hotel is free, should you rock up with your own hired wheels.
- Others Savusavu marina is a big draw for yachties, so private yacht charters are another way to reach Namale. Helicopter (www.helicopters.com.fj) and sea plane transfers (www.fijiseaplanes.com) from Nadi or elsewhere can also be arranged. If you want a boutique local agency to arrange your transfer connections, contact Exclusively Fiji (www.exclusivelyfiji.com).
