The Guestbook
Lucknam is a fantastic hotel, everything is extremely professionally run, all facilities are pristine – a lovely long weekend. For a change from the hotel dining, which is fabulous but not cheap, try the Biddestone Arms in Biddestone. Great food, good value, just a short drive or cab ride from the hotel.

The vintage country manor escape is not our normal style but after a luxurious weekend at Lucknam Park we are converted. This place oozes class – everything is done to perfection. We stayed in the romantic Juliet Suite named after the Juliet balcony in the living room, which boasted an elevated four-poster bed reminiscent of The Princess and the Pea complete with cutesy footstool to help you into bed at night. We spent the weekend wandering around the extensive grounds and when we felt like a bit of exercise to work up an appetite we borrowed a couple of mountain bikes to explore the grounds off piste, although remember to bring your old gym kit as it's muddy out there. On the Saturday evening we sampled the delights of the Michelin-starred restaurant (not to be missed) and then whiled away the wee small hours drinking port by the fire in the drawing room. We returned to London on Sunday feeling refreshed, completely spoilt and dreaming of when we can book our next vintage weekend away.

Mr Smith and I visited for a long winter weekend, fully intending to explore the famous Christmas market in nearby Bath. Despite our best efforts, we simply could not tear ourselves away from the sheer loveliness that is Lucknam Park. Sitting in the outdoor part of the gorgeously warm and bubbly hydrotherapy pool with December raindrops falling from above and clouds of steam billowing all around was as fine a way to spend a few hours developing an enormous appetite as we could imagine. And we really did need that enormous appetite – every morsel that passed our lips for the whole weekend was to die for but the truffled honey served with the cheeseboard in the Park was truly a revelation I am already thinking of an excuse to go back.

Lucknam Park really is special. I do not have enough superlatives to describe the spa, once you get there you will not want to leave. The Japanese Salt room is a particular highlight but it is hard to beat sitting in a hot whirlpool looking out over the garden. I have to give special mention to the staff in the brasserie – they are so friendly and eagar to help with anything. I would recommend Tetbury as a day trip. Bath is closer but Tetbury is a little gem of a village: fantastic shops and antiques, and I would insist on a trip to Quayles, a really remarkable deli and cafe. You would think you were in the heart of London, the food and range is so extensive.

It was everything we had promised ourselves, and more. My tip is, don't plan to spend time lazing in your room, do it in more style in the wood panelled library, or by the real fire in the drawing room, or maybe in the outdoor Jacuzzi-type pool. It’s all too good to miss by staying in bed - comfy as it was. We had the best meal ever in The Park restaurant with very impressive service, which included letting me slightly change my meal. It was the perfect cosy but decadent, winter break.

If you really want to feel pampered and special and really experience a golden era of English country life, resplendent with heritage and tradition, reflecting the glory of what the British Empire once was, then check out Lucknam Park. Above all, allow yourself all the time in the world to enjoy the amazing spa and experience a massage or 3. The food is tremendous, the beds are amazingly comfortable and high tea is to really savour. And fortunately the grounds are so well designed that there's always something new to see and experience after your meals. If you want to go horse riding or just bike riding, there's that too, or a game of croquet anyone?

This was our last getaway before our first baby arrives on 27th June, and it was pure bliss, the spa was amazing and any pregnant women out there, I would certainly recommend the 90 min treatment they offer, it really did soothe my aches and pains. And as for the food and service, this is exceptional; the staff really go out of their way to accommodate you. It really was what we needed. So thank you again Mr & Mrs Smith for delivering on a great weekend break.

Driving up the gorgeous tree-lined driveway, the London stress started to slip away. By the time we arrived at the spectacular house it had gone completely. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more efficient, we were quickly transported to our lovely room in the courtyard where our bags already were. The food was really good: classic in the brasserie, fine in The Park. The spa was a tranquil oasis of calm, not too busy, and the massage was the best I have had in a very long time. We left relaxed and ready for another week at work. Just the tonic.

Had an amazing stay at Lucknam Park. The staff are incredibly well trained, the rooms are exquisite, the spa luxurious, and the food first rate. Can't recommend it enough for a perfect romantic getaway.

A return visit to this wonderful hotel – everything was exceptional as usual. I must recommend a visit to the King William Pub on William Street in Bath – the food is divine, as good as anything I have eaten in London. It is locally sourced and very carefully prepared. They also serve bread from the amazing Bertinet Bakery, which is enough of an endorsement for me.

Wow oh wow – what a place! I have never felt so pampered or special. The food, service and venue are exceptional. One thing I must rate higher than anything else is the spa – I am not surprised it has got so many awards, it really is incredible. I especially rate the Japanese Salt room.

Totally excellent. From the second we stepped out of the car, we were greeted by friendly relaxed staff. We were swiftly checked in, shown immediate facilities and then our room. Our 20 month old daughter was overly excited by the room, pool, horses and grounds, as were we. We booked a nanny for the Saturday night so that we could dine in the Michelin-starred restaurant, and she was over-efficient. We decided to have the main course delivered to our room and not an eyelid was batted. Overall, a great weekend, and we would definitely recommend it. Don’t be afraid to take the kids.

A great place to stay for sightseeing, shopping, the arts or just relaxation in the hotel and its surroundings.

Had a great weekend at Lucknam Park, as always, and the snow made it perfect.
We were lucky enough to be in Bath on the first day of their Christmas Fair on Saturday and enjoyed the hustle and bustle. Snow falling and the sound of carols coming from the Cathedral completed the picture beautifully.
On the way home we stopped at Castle Combe and had a late lunch in The Castle Inn. Excellent food and atmosphere.

Our stay at Lucknam Park was everything we expected it to be. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the manager, who somehow knew it was my fiancee's birthday, our car was parked and our bags were whisked to our room before we got there. Our standard room was fairly standard, but with a very comfortable bed. The service at Lucknam Park is impeccable. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food of course was fabulous, the setting was breathtaking and the spa is the best I've ever seen. Sitting outside in the thermal bath under the November night sky was really special. We will definitely return for a summer visit.

We had an amazing time at Lucknam park, a great Hotel with an amazing Spa and fantastic Michelin star restaurant. The staff could not have been more helpful. I had an amazing spa treatment with hot stones. We will definitely go back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and especially the ability to ride around the estate. A couple of small issues though that should not crop up in a five-star hotel.
1.The bed in our room was made up of two beds joined together and despite our request for an additional mattress topper to help negate the gap between the two mattresses, this format doesn’t make for a comfortable night's rest.
2.The Brasserie which is located next to the excellent spa facilities is more of a spa restaurant than a true brasserie. The food is certainly good but it’s rather like eating it in a sports centre with piped music.
