Hotel le Bellechasse
Style Luxuriously Lacroix
Setting Lively Left Bank
Styled by Christian Lacroix, Hôtel le Bellechasse has all the flamboyance of a Moulin Rouge showgirl, its bold boudoirs awash with colour. Rooms are designed around seven themes, including ‘Avengers’, ‘Patchwork’ and ‘Quai d’Orsay’, with murals, stripes and tactile textures. The Left Bank location means wining and dining galore.

Food and drink at Hotel le Bellechasse
-
Hotel restaurant
There’s no restaurant, but you can have Continental breakfast (a princely spread of fruit, rolls, pastries, toast, cereals, scrambled eggs, cheeses and freshly squeezed juices) in the breakfast room or in your boudoir between 7am–11am. -
Dress code
Vintage Lacroix in honour of the hotel’s designer. If early-morning couture is too much to ask, sport black, white and neutral threads to minimise clashes. -
Top table
Sit by your favourite mural and admire the designer details over croissants and coffee. -
Room service
No room service, so stock up on treats and sweets at local patisseries and épiceries. -
Hotel bar
There’s a petite drinking spot by the lobby, but it’s unlikely you’ll linger over the barman’s creations for long, given St Germain’s glut of bohemian bars and stylish bistros.

In the know
Our favourite rooms
The Saint-Germain rooms are full of classical grandeur, with gold-leaf effect adorning the walls, dramatic frescoes and zebra-print or brocade chairs. The russet, brown and black palette makes for a richly romantic setting. Tuileries rooms are flamboyant and feminine, with strawberry and truffle stripes, retro patterns and murals of Slavic figures.
Packing tips
Your iPod for the in-room docks; a camera to capture the one-off interiors, and some designer threads.
Also
Christian Lacroix designed all the wallpaper – look out for butterflies, trees, astrological motifs, geometric patterns and Victorian gentlemen sporting top hats.
