What I liked
The hotel is just what you want from a boutique hotel in the heart of Renaissance Florence. Its location – just by the Ponte Vecchio – is second to none. It is a mere amble away from all the main sights as well as some of the lesser-known ones. Good staff, good breakfast, and a wonderful exhibition of Marilyn Monroe photos from the 1950s. Its sister hotel across the courtyard has a wonderful rooftop bar – perfect for a sundowner whilst you’re gazing across the city.
Try the sandwiches and traders at the Mercato Centrale in San Lorenzo.

Great position, friendly and professional staff. Relaxing rooftop bar. Just a great city to get away to for the weekend.

Loved it. Excellent location yet quiet and relaxing after the hustle and bustle of Florence. Rooms are spacious with huge and comfortable beds, I had one of the best nights sleep here for a long time and the Staff were very helpful in providing recommendations for our first time in Florence. We would seriously recommend eating at
– what a find. The Mr & Mrs Smith treats were well-used, I am now on the hunt for a lifetime supply of

Gallery Hotel Art in Florence is a very good hotel. The location is amazing, just round the corner of Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria. The structure itself is modern but with a classic touch in some details eg the library in the common area next to the reception and the breakfast room. The bar of the hotel is perfect for a drink in late afternoon: it becomes a busy place of cool people that drink aperitifs just before going out for dinner and the little canapes served are delicious – not the usual chips, olives and peanuts. Highly recommended for people who want to visit Florence without using the car; everything is a five-minute walk. Gallery Hotel is recommended also for shopping and for romantic breaks.

Cantina Barbagianni is very slightly off the beaten track, located in Via S. Egidio (behind the Duomo) – this means no tourists; the restaurant is patronised by Italians. The basement setting is very pleasant; the wine selection is extensive and not limited to Tuscany. It was the food, however, which was exceptional, delivering on quality, taste and presentation. The service was very attentive, if a little quick. As for cost, it was half the price of the previous evening's somewhat staid offering at a celebrated winemaker's centrally-located cantina.

What a fantastic hotel, the position was perfect. We loved our upgrade to a Loft Suite. Due to our arrival time of 4.30pm we were starving (even though it was 35 degrees). The porter suggested a restaurant, The Golden View, which was right on the river. This became our favorite place for dinner. The hotel's restaurant was amazing, just like the hotel and staff.
