Cantina Barbagianni is very slightly off the beaten track, located in Via S. Egidio (behind the Duomo) – this means no tourists; the restaurant is patronised by Italians. The basement setting is very pleasant; the wine selection is extensive and not limited to Tuscany. It was the food, however, which was exceptional, delivering on quality, taste and presentation. The service was very attentive, if a little quick. As for cost, it was half the price of the previous evening's somewhat staid offering at a celebrated winemaker's centrally-located cantina.

What a fantastic hotel, the position was perfect. We loved our upgrade to a Loft Suite. Due to our arrival time of 4.30pm we were starving (even though it was 35 degrees). The porter suggested a restaurant, The Golden View, which was right on the river. This became our favorite place for dinner. The hotel's restaurant was amazing, just like the hotel and staff.

An ideal stay in Firenze is guaranteed at Gallery Hotel Art. A perfect, central location, spacious and modern decor, coupled with exemplary service, made for a fabulous few days in Florence. Take a walk to Trattoria Coco Lezzone (+39 055 287 178) at 26 Via Parioncino, for an exquisite yet informal dinner.
